The Office of Undergraduate Research staff is excited for the new school year and a new month of opportunities and events! Be sure to stop by the Chellgren Center’s Open House on Wednesday, September 20th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the Funkhouser Courtyard and enjoy free ice cream (see flyer below for more details).

If you are new to UK or our office, we are the starting point for any undergraduate student desiring to include mentored research in their undergraduate experience. Our staff helps you navigate the undergraduate research experience through discussion and resources. Students engaged in our programs undoubtedly garner the rewards of inquiry-based learning through creativity and innovation. Our research programs help equip students to become professional, civic, and academic leaders.

Mentors make a difference!

The Office of Undergraduate Research officially launched our research Faculty Mentor of the Week recognition on August 28th. Every week we will highlight one of our outstanding and very much appreciated research faculty mentors who offer leadership and support of our undergraduate student researchers.

POWER HOUR SESSION
Wednesday, September 27: POWER HOUR Session. 
6:00 PM - 7:15 PM; WT Young Library Room B110
This session is going to dive in to the common misconception of undergraduate research, how to find research opportunities at UK, and the funding available to students doing research. The goal is for you to leave the session feeling inspired, empowered, and prepared to go out and create new knowledge.

  RESEARCH TRAVEL GRANTS
Travel funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 
Therefore, each applicant should submit her or his application as early as possible, and well in advance of the proposed travel. The application will be reviewed and the applicant will be notified of approval by email. 
Please allow approximately 4 weeks for review.
